Red Gate Gallery is delighted to present Fractal Patterns, a solo exhibition by Jamaican-American abstract artist Peter Wayne Lewis, opening on March 15th. Centered on the artist’s signature fractal visual language, the exhibition features large-scale acrylic on linen works of striking visual impact, as well as experimental representative pieces of acrylic on paper and monoprints. Lewis’s artistic practice is deeply inspired by quantum physics, celestial cosmology and improvisational jazz, with creative inspiration continuously expanding across diverse fields to explore the opposition and integration of reason and sensibility, science and art.

Endowed with a rich cross-cultural background, Lewis has forged a profound connection with the Chinese artistic context. He has maintained an artist studio in Beijing since 2007, devoting a great deal of his creative time here each year, and the cultural atmosphere of Beijing has deeply influenced his artistic practice. In 2016, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art held his solo exhibition Peter Wayne Lewis: Booster, curated by Philip Tinari; in 2019, Red Gate Gallery presented his solo exhibition Bending Time – From Kingston to Beijing.

红门画廊欣然呈现牙买加裔美国抽象艺术家彼得・韦恩・刘易斯（Peter Wayne Lewis）个展《分形样式》（Fractal Patterns），展览将于3月15日正式启幕。本次展览以艺术家标志性的“分形”视觉语言为核心脉络，展品既包含极具视觉张力的大尺幅布面丙烯作品，亦囊括充满实验精神的纸本丙烯与独幅版画代表作。彼得・韦恩・刘易斯的艺术实践深度受量子物理、宇宙天体与即兴爵士乐启发，不断从多元领域延展，探讨理性与感性、科学与艺术的对立与交融。

拥有丰富跨文化背景的刘易斯，与中国艺术语境联结深厚。自 2007 年起，他于北京设立工作室，每年在此投入大量创作时间，北京的文化氛围也深刻影响了其艺术实践。2016 年，他于 UCCA 尤伦斯当代艺术中心举办个展《彼得・韦恩・刘易斯：助推器》，由田霏宇（Philip Tinari）担任策展人；并于2019 年在红门画廊举办个展《弯曲的时间 —— 从金斯敦到北京》。
