Nature is all about movement, Circles and Harmony
Nature is all about movement, circles and harmony. Niko de La Faye (FR) and Xu Zhongmin (CN), developed a close connection to nature that they illustrate through their work. Their sculptures invite the viewer to meditate about the world itself and our position as humans in this great mix. The same way planets orbit around a sun and electrons circle around a core, humans through 'circumambulate', moving around sacred objects or idols - something practiced in many religions throughout the world and the ages.
With M2B4#2, Niko de La Faye offers a representation of cosmic order using geometry as nature’s mathematical vocabulary. The mirrored stainless steel elements inside the cubic structure rotate freely with airflows creating this soft and slow abstract ballet. This finely balanced work can be seen as a whole galaxy, or as a molecule within.
In Trekking Around the Mountain, Xu Zhongmin’s carousel-like sculptures recall the ritual of Tibetans spending days walking around a sacred mountain, meditating, praying and striving to reach Nirvana. With these pieces the artist invites the viewer to become 'the walker' and to enter another space and another time.
