Artist Statment - The Empty Skin

Everyone has their own skin, the only difference is – is there a heart inside this skin, or has the skin forgotten its heart. But there’s no doubt that every skin, no matter what its texture, encloses a heart. So a skin can refuse to believe in its own heart –  it can forget its heart – but a living, waking heart can’t deny its own skin. So really what we need to focus on is the heart.  Can it remain wholly indifferent to everything that doesn't concern it and so protect itself. Or can it strip away the daily indifference of its skin to put itself inside another’s.
