Kalman Pool, born in 1996 in Canton China, has graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA), and the Royal College of Art (MA Painting). He is the current artist in residence at the Swatch Art Residency, Shanghai.
Kalman Pool’s interdisciplinary works examine the dialectical relationship between the virtual and the physical. Inspired by Bio Art and natural history, Pool firstly creates the bio-mutated forms with VR modelling, and then deftly transforms them into inflatable simulacra and multi-media installations. These new life forms are imbued with traits of constant regeneration and insistent liveliness.
