2026年6月6日星期六,艺术家张朝晖在《光亮——张朝晖个人作品展》开幕现场实施“足迹”行为艺术作品,用双脚行走出实验水墨的新步调。开放、随机、新奇的行为艺术体验,吸引到场的观众也参与其中,与艺术家携手向光而行。

Saturday, June 6, 2026, during the opening of Luminosity: Zhang Zhaohui at Red Gate Gallery, artist Zhang Zhaohui presented his performance art Footprints, creating a brand-new rhythm for experimental ink art through footwork. This open, improvisational, and distinctive performance captivated the audience, who joined the artist in walking toward the light together.

张朝晖将“足迹”行为实施的场地设立在红门画廊内,他在八尺全开宣纸的面积里,用双脚蘸墨后,于宣纸上反复行走,留下无数足迹。活动现场众多艺术挚友和观众既是创作过程的见证人,也是参与者。

The performance took place on a full-size eight-foot Chinese xuan paper, Zhang dipped his feet in ink and paced back and forth repeatedly, leaving a trail of countless footprints. Many fellow art friends and visitors on site not only witnessed the creation but also took part in it.

作为张朝晖在红门画廊的第三场个人展览,现场作品也呈现了疫情以来张朝晖水墨艺术探索的新面貌。巨幅作品 《光波》带有强烈的纵深感,精神性和结构化的结合,较早期的光与线系列更为深厚。《色彩系列》作品作为艺术家持续探索十多年,尝试将色彩和水墨有机融合, 令作品具有抽象表现主义的特征,其中的《格纹彩虹》将具有现代社会气质的格纹和缤纷晕染的彩虹色彩结合,编织出一条视觉的谜语。《深海系列》源自艺术家对于深海生命物理特性的观察,在万米深渊中,这些生物的自身却能发出光亮,是极其珍贵的自然馈赠。《无题系列》中部分作品呈现出文字性的结构,与张朝晖童年时期练习书法的经历有关,也是他对文字与绘画笔意结合的探索和尝试。

This exhibition is Zhang Zhaohui’s third solo show at Red Gate Gallery, showcasing a new facet of his exploration of ink painting since the Pandemic. The monumental piece Light Wave delivers a strong sense of spatial depth. Blending spiritual connotation with structural rigor, it boasts richer artistic depth than the artist’s earlier series. 

Having explored the organic integration of color and ink for over a decade, Zhang’s Color Series embodies distinct characteristics of Abstract Expressionism. Among them, Grided Rainbow merges modern-style checkered textures with fluid, diffused rainbow hues, weaving an intriguing visual enigma. 

Inspired by his observations of the physical traits of deep-sea organisms, the Deep Sea Series captures the luminous vitality of creatures dwelling in the ten-thousand-meter abyssal zone — a rare and precious gift of nature. 

Several works from the Untitled Series feature textual structural aesthetics. Rooted in Zhang Zhaohui’s childhood calligraphy training, these pieces represent his ongoing exploration of integrating calligraphic brushwork into pictorial expression.

本次展览的艺术总监,北京大学艺术学院首任院长 彭锋教授对张朝晖以光为题的创作非常赞扬。彭锋教授认为:“光在水墨画中是很难表现的,张朝晖的重要贡献是用水墨把光的形态充分表现。张朝晖的作品更接近现代的构成主义,从他早期的以极简与极多组成的抽象艺术,到现在更丰富的表现形式,不同于传统的留白,他对表现光的尝试很成功。”

Professor Peng Feng, the founding Dean of the School of Arts, Peking University and Art Director of this exhibition, spoke highly of Zhang’s light-themed creations. 

He commented: “Light is notoriously difficult to depict in traditional ink painting. Zhang Zhaohui has made outstanding contributions by fully capturing the imagery of light with ink. His works lean toward modern Constructivism. Evolving from his early abstract works that juxtapose minimalism and maximalism to the diverse expressions today, he breaks away from the traditional use of blank space. His exploration of portraying light has been remarkably successful.”

艺术需要发光,带来温暖,展现明亮的前景。张朝晖将光,空间和结构融入水墨艺术中,并展开了以光与线,水和墨为核心的艺术谱系,有效地将中国传统审美精华和笔墨表达转型为可国际分享的当代感受和艺术语汇,逐步打开了当代水墨艺术的新界面。

Art needs to shine, bringing warmth and showcasing a bright future. Zhao Zhaohui has developed an artistic lineage centered on light and lines, water, and ink, and has effectively transformed the essence of traditional Chinese aesthetics and brushwork expression into contemporary context and artistic vocabulary that can be shared internationally. This has gradually opened up new frontiers for contemporary ink.
