Zhang Yajie was born in Beijing in 1963 and is a graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
He has participated in a number of group exhibitions, including the China/Avant-Garde Exhibition of 1989 and the First Biennial Art Fair in Guangzhou in 1992.
