“Although beauty us a highly subjective term, most people, I think, would find Tony Scott’s new paintings beautiful indeed.

….The last word should go to the great critic Ernst Gombrich, whose book A Sense of Order is the clearest and most convincing argument we have for the psychological and symbolic importance of decoration and pattern: “The arrangement of elements according to similarity and difference and the enjoyment of repetition and symmetry extend from the stringing of beads to the layout of the page in front of the reader, and, of course, beyond to the rhythms of movement, speech and music, not to mention the structures of society and the systems of thought.” (Excerpt from the essay in the catalogue of the exhibition written by the Australia art critic Peter Timms.)
