Su Xinping was born in Jining, Inner Mongolia in 1960. He graduated from the Tianjin Institute of Fine Arts in 1986 and completed post-graduate studies at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 where he is now an instructor in the Department of Printmaking. He has exhibited widely in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan, France, Australia, the United States and Sweden.
