红门画廊荣幸为您呈现时间胶囊——布朗·华莱士收藏的西藏当代艺术群展。展出西藏当代艺术家贡嘎嘉措 Gonkar Gyatso, 嘎德 Gade, 格次 Keltse, 次仁念扎和亚次丹 Tsering Nyandak and Yak Tsetan, 次旺扎西 Tsewang Tashi, 诺次 Norbu Tsering的作品。

Red Gate Gallery is pleased to present Time Capsule: Contemporary Tibetan Art from the Brian Wallace Collection, which features work by Gonkar Gyatso, Gade, Keltse, Tsering Nyandak and Yak Tsetan, Tsewang Tashi and Norbu Tsering.

从1985年，艺术家贡嘎嘉措和伙伴们共同成立“甜茶馆画派”开始，西藏的本土艺术家逐渐走出古老高原，寻找着艺术的新面貌；2003年，嘎德、次旺扎西等艺术家在拉萨联合创建“根敦群培艺术家群体”，努力突破外界对于西藏艺术的刻板印象，令更多世人了解到西藏艺术界和艺术家们的真实现状。现在的西藏当代艺术已经开始蓬勃兴起，与国内外艺术界日渐平等的互动，为他们带来更多成就和机遇。

In 1985, when the artist Gonkar Gyatso and his partners jointly established the "Sweet Teahouse School", Tibetan artists began to reach beyond of ancient plateau in search of new art. In 2003, artists Gade and Tsewang Tashi founded the "Gendun Qunpei Artists Guild" in Lhasa, striving to break through the stereotypes of Tibetan art, and to let more people in the world understand the contemporary Tibetan art scene. Today, Tibetan contemporary art has begun to flourish, and the interaction with the art world at home and abroad is becoming more and more equal, bringing the artists greater achievements and opportunities.

正如《20世纪西藏美术史》的作者、艺术家次旺扎西在书中所写——“与过去不同的是，西藏画家以更加成熟自信、积极进取的姿态在国内外的官方和民间组织的艺术展览、艺术家留驻等各种文化交流活动中参与和展示他们的作品，并得到媒体、学术界以及画廊等艺术机构的广泛关注，使西藏美术的生态百花齐放和生机勃勃。”*

As the author of "A History of Tibetan Art in the 20th Century" and artist Tsewang Tashi wrote in his book: "Unlike in the past, Tibetan painters have participated in and exhibted their works in various cultural exchange activities such as art exhibitions organized by officials and non-governmental organizations at home and abroad, artist residencies, etc.. With a more mature, confident, and enterprising attitude, they have received extensive attention from the media, academia, galleries and other art institutions, making the ecology of Tibetan art bloom and flourish." *

红门画廊和创始人布朗·华莱士先生也一直致力于资助和扶持西藏当代艺术的发展。2007年，红门画廊首次在首都北京推出西藏当代艺术家群展《拉萨 - 来自西藏的新艺术》；并通过专场展览《重归拉萨 西藏当代艺术展》（2008年）、《西藏·此时》（2018年）等，持续展示西藏当代艺术家的创作。

Red Gate Gallery and the founder Brian Wallace, have also been committed to funding and supporting the development of Tibetan contemporary art. In 2007, Red Gate Gallery launched Lhasa - New Art from Tibet which was one of the first shows of contemporary Tibetan art in Beijing. This was followed by "Return to Lhasa" (2008) and "Tibet Now" (2018).

2010年，首个全景式介绍西藏当代艺术现状和脉络的大型学术展览《烈日西藏》在北京展出，由栗宪庭先生和西藏艺术家嘎德担任主策展人，红门画廊作为主要推动者和协办方，参与其中。

In 2010, Red Gate Gallery facilitated and co-organized a large-scale academic exhibition "Scorching Sun of Tibet" in Beijing, which is the first panoramic introduction to the current situation and context of contemporary Tibetan art, curated by Li Xianting and Tibetan artist Gade.

本次展出的西藏当代艺术作品，创作年代均为千禧年后。这些作品借由丰富多样的媒体形式，讲述着西藏艺术界的新故事。

The Tibetan contemporary art works in this exhibition are all created after the millennium.  Through different media, the works tell the new story of the Tibetan art scene.
